Antonio Botija
Antonio is a Managing Director on the infrastructure team based in H.I.G.’s London office. He has over 20 years of experience in infrastructure private equity and investment banking, having invested across a wide range of regions and sectors including sustainable energy, digital, transportation and social infrastructure.
Prior to joining H.I.G., Antonio was Head of Origination & Investments for Infrastructure Investments at Columbia Threadneedle where he led the initial investments of their European Sustainable Infrastructure Fund. Before that, he worked at Hastings Funds Management, Infracapital Partners and UBS Investment Bank.
Antonio earned his M.B.A. from INSEAD and undergraduate degrees in Law and Business Management from ICADE (Madrid, Spain).
Paul Gurm
Paul is a Principal in H.I.G. Capital’s New York office, where he focuses on the firm’s Infrastructure activities. Paul is responsible for all aspects of the investment process including origination, transaction structuring, financing and execution of post-closing growth strategies.
Paul has over a decade of private equity and corporate finance experience. Prior to joining H.I.G., Paul worked at American Infrastructure Funds where he evaluated and executed middle market infrastructure investments across a wide range of industries and served on the boards of multiple portfolio companies. Previously, Paul was a member of the Energy Investment Banking team at J.P. Morgan where he advised clients on M&A, capital markets, and strategic initiatives. Paul began his career at PwC in Canada.
Paul earned his Master of Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan and an undergraduate degree in Commerce from Dalhousie University.
Andrew Liau
Andrew is a Managing Director on the infrastructure team based in H.I.G.’s London office and co-heads the firm’s Infrastructure Fund. He has over 20 years of experience in private equity and investment banking.
Prior to joining H.I.G., Andrew was a Senior Managing Director in the infrastructure group at Ardian, where he led a number of successful core plus investments. Prior to Ardian, he was a founding member of First State Investments’ European infrastructure team. Andrew began his career at RBC, where he worked on infrastructure financings.
Andrew earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Sami Mnaymneh
Sami Mnaymneh is a Founder and Co-CEO of H.I.G. Capital. He has directed the firm's development since its founding in 1993 and approves all capital commitments made by H.I.G.
Prior to founding H.I.G., Sami was a Managing Director with The Blackstone Group in New York. Prior to that, he was a Vice President in the Mergers and Acquisitions department at Morgan Stanley & Co., where he devoted a significant amount of his time to leveraged buyouts, serving as senior advisor to a number of prominent private equity firms. Sami has at various times served on a number of academic boards including the Board of Columbia College and the Dean’s Council of the Harvard Law School.
Sami earned a B.A. degree, Summa Cum Laude, from Columbia University where he graduated first in his class, and subsequently received a J.D. degree and an M.B.A. degree, with honors, from Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School, respectively.
Edward Pallesen
Ed is a Managing Director based in H.I.G.’s New York office and co-leads the firm’s Infrastructure Fund.
Prior to joining H.I.G., Ed was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs & Co. Ed worked at Goldman Sachs for 19 years in a variety of capacities, including in the Telecom, Media and Technology group in Investment Banking, and, most recently, as head of the Americas at Goldman Sachs’ Infrastructure fund. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Ed served as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Ed earned a B.A. from Harvard College, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and a D.Phil. from Oxford University, with honors, where he was a Rhodes Scholar.
Mihai Popescu-Greaca
Mihai is a Director in the H.I.G. Infrastructure team and is based in the London office, where he is responsible for all aspects of the investment process.
Mihai has 10 years of experience in infrastructure private equity covering a broad range of sectors including transportation, energy, telecommunications and healthcare. Prior to joining H.I.G. Infrastructure, Mihai was a Vice President with DWS Infrastructure, the private equity infrastructure strategy of Deutsche Bank’s listed Asset Management unit, where he was involved in the origination, execution and asset management of a number of European core plus investments.
Mihai earned a Diploma in Business Administration from the Goethe University in Frankfurt and is a CFA charterholder.
Michael Pothitos
Michael is a Director in the infrastructure team and is based in the London office. Previously, he spent four years as a member of the H.I.G. Europe Buyouts private equity group, where he focused on the Industrials and TMT sectors. He is responsible for all aspects of the investment process and represents H.I.G. on several portfolio companies.
Prior to joining H.I.G., he worked for five years with Parthenon EY as a strategy consultant. Before Parthenon EY, Michael was with Arthur D. Little working with multi-national FTSE/Euronext 100 travel, transportation and construction clients on strategy and performance improvements.
Michael earned a First Class MEng in Aeronautical Engineering from Imperial College London.
Miriam Rafiqi
Miriam is a Managing Director in the infrastructure team and is based in H.I.G. Capital’s New York office. Previously, she spent nine years as a member of the H.I.G. Middle Market Buyout fund, where she focused on the Industrial sector. She is responsible for all aspects of the investment process including origination, transaction structuring, financing, and execution of post-closing growth strategies and represents.
Prior to joining H.I.G., Miriam worked in private equity at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners. Miriam began her career in the Energy Investment Banking group at Credit Suisse.
Miriam earned her M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and her undergraduate degree from the George Washington University.
Rick Rosen
Rick is Co-President of H.I.G. Capital with over twenty-five years of private equity and M&A experience. In his current position, along with Brian Schwartz, he directs the day-to-day operations of the firm and sits on the investment committees for all H.I.G. funds.
Since joining H.I.G. in 1998, he has been involved in all aspects of the investment process; and has held leadership positions in several of the firm’s funds.
Prior to joining H.I.G., Rick worked at General Electric Company and GE Capital. As part of the Corporate Mergers & Acquisitions team, he coordinated a variety of strategic acquisitions in the financial services, plastics, medical systems, electronics, and aerospace industries. Previously, Rick was a member of the GE Corporate Finance Staff, where he helped design and implement improved business strategies and operating processes for GE Capital business units.
Rick received his undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Brian Schwartz
Brian is Co-President of H.I.G. Capital. He joined the firm in 1994. In his current position, along with Rick Rosen, he directs the day-to-day operations of the firm and sits on the investment committees for all H.I.G. funds.
Since joining H.I.G. in 1994, Brian held a number of leadership positions at the firm.
Prior to joining H.I.G., Brian worked in PepsiCo’s strategic planning group. His responsibilities included managing strategic acquisitions for PepsiCo and evaluating new business opportunities. Brian began his career with the investment banking firm of Dillon, Read and Co. where he split his time between the corporate finance group and the private equity funds, Saratoga Partners and Yorktown Partners.
Brian earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and his B.S. with honors from the University of Pennsylvania.
Tony Tamer
Tony Tamer is a Founder and Co-CEO of H.I.G. Capital. He has directed H.I.G.'s development since its founding in 1993 and approves all capital commitments made by the firm.
Tony has extensive experience working with, and coaching, early stage and middle-market companies. He currently also serves on the Dean’s Council of the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.
Prior to H.I.G., Tony was partner at Bain & Company where he developed business unit and operating strategies, and implemented productivity improvement initiatives. Tony also previously held marketing, engineering and manufacturing positions at Hewlett-Packard and Sprint Corporation.
Tony holds an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School, and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. His undergraduate degree is from Rutgers University.
George Watts
George is a Managing Director on the infrastructure team based in H.I.G.’s New York office. George has approximately 20 years of infrastructure investing and advisory experience across a wide range of industries including energy, including energy transition, transportation and communications.
Prior to joining H.I.G., George was a Managing Director at Stonepeak Partners, where he led multiple investments in both their flagship North American Infrastructure Fund and their Global Renewable Energy Fund. He began his career at J.P. Morgan, where he advised clients on M&A transactions, capital raises, and other strategic initiatives.
George earned his undergraduate degree in engineering from Dartmouth College.
